First of all - Congratulations!

Congratulations to each and every one for a truly spectacular performance yesterday!!! You blew us all away!! The crowd at the stadium were mesmerised by your outstanding display.

You showed the world the free and youthful spirit of Malaysia. You have every reason to be proud of yourselves. SGM members from all over the country are so proud of you and are celebrating your great victory!! Hurray!

If every youth in the country possessed this kind of vigour and dynamism - there is no stopping Malaysia!

We know everyone is truly elated over last night's performance and want to look at the beautiful pics of the performance. Our photographers took about 6,000 pics (wow!) and we are still in the process of sorting them out...

Moreover, the quality of the internet connection appears to be very poor and we have difficulty uploading the photos... so, we seek your understanding and patience. Ampun, beribu ampun.

Everyone, please take a good rest, and enjoy your first "free" weekend after more than two months of practice!

We will keep you posted.

Message from SGI President Ikeda

Our beloved Mr and Mrs Ikeda have sent a message to encourage all of us!

To all my trustworthy Youth Division members of Malaysia and all the staff and stage crew members supporting from behind, thank you very much for putting your soul and spirit into the day-and-night practices, as well as your all-out efforts in the preparation.

Your grand performance in the commemorative ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the independence of Malaysia is being watched intently by SGI members in the 190 countries and territories all over the world.

I and my wife are praying from the land of Japan for each and every one of you to have an unregretful, accident free and greatly successful performance. Please also convey my warmest regards to all your family members.

Photos from the Final Rehearsal, Aug 29

August 29 - the final rehearsal. We have got to get everything right! Everyone was visibly excited and anxious at the same time.

It was a long day for everyone. Our performers started to arrive at the stadium before 3 pm, and waited until 8pm before they finally got into the arena for position runs. The full run finally began at 10 pm. On the grandstand watching the show were honourable PM Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dato Seri Utama Rais Yatim and other officials.

Overall, it was generally a successful rehearsal although some segments of the show still required finetuning. The PM was pleased with the preparation for the big day and everything is set for a fantastic night on August 31.

Our performers were truly fantastic in yesterday night's rehearsal. At the grandstand witnessing the performance, were hundreds of enthusiastic SGM members, who have travelled from all over the Klang valley to be at the stadium. Being part of the crowd myself, I can say for sure that it was truly a proud moment for SGM members as we cheered and applauded for our performers who have put on a spirited display! Bravo!

But hold it - don't open that bottle of champagne yet.

Let's put on an even better show on August 31 - giving our utmost - to make this 50th Merdeka 'giant' celebration a truly unforgettable night - one where we can all look back 50 years from now (for those of us who are still around) with pride and a sense of glory!

Malaysiaku Gemilang!

Yes, we hear you!

The arena was illuminated by colourful projection of photos and light patterns.

Here we go!

The night came to a close with a grand and colourful finale portraying the colours of Malaysia.
